The Post Office has named Martin George as chief marketing and commercial officer.

The role will see former Boots and Cadbury's executive George take charge of marketing, mails, telecoms, government and digital teams, as well as taking the lead on the SME agenda.

Paula Vennells, Chief Executive at the Post Office said: “We are delighted Martin has joined the team at the Post Office. He brings with him a wealth of experience that will be invaluable as we deliver our plans to modernise and grow the business.”

Martin George said: “I am thrilled to have joined the Post Office at such an exciting time, having been inspired by the potential of the brand to play an increasingly important role in the lives of millions of people across the UK.”

George's previous employers also include British Airways and BUPA, but his latest role will see him manage the Post Office's public image amidst continuing questions from Unions on plans to close or franchise 75 high street branches.
