BT Sport is making its magazine and live sport programming available to anyone with Freeview, BT TV, Sky or Virgin TV during October, as its war with competitor BSkyB continues to rage.

Dubbed ‘Open October’, BT is making its sport channel available to everyone, showing live sport on the channel during the weeks of 7 and 14 October.

Meanwhile, BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN will be made open during the weekend of the 26 - 27 October.

Additionally, entertainment channel BT TV will be on air from 7pm Monday to Friday during the promotional month.

“We want to give even more viewers the chance to see the new programmes and live sporting action happening on BT Sport during October,” explained Simon Green, head of BT Sport.

“Making the channels open to all allows us to show how we are offering something for everyone, from sports entertainment shows through to exclusive live sporting action.”

The move comes as BT announced BT Sport had signed up over one million users in the space of three months.

Last month, Sky Sports similarly opened up its programmes free to all Sky subscribers for one day.
