Facebook launch investigation into pic of man holding knife to throat of Neil Lennon

Facebook has initiated an investigationFacebook has initiated an investigation

Facebook is currently investigating the Celtic Green and White Army Facebook page after a picture was posted of a man holding a knife to the throat of an image of Celtic FC manager Neil Lennon.

Lennon has received death threats in the past, with two men jailed for five years in 2012 for sending devices they believed were capable of exploding and causing severe injury to Lennon, former MSP Trish Godman and the late Paul McBride QC.

In 2011 Lennon was attacked on the touchline by a man who leapt from the stands at a Hearts v Celtic game.

The picture shows a man evidently watching Lennon during the football club’s match against FC Barcelona.

The image appeared on the Facebook page shortly after the game concluded.

It has now been taken down.

Police Scotland have not made any comment at the time of publication.

Can anyone from the Drum explain why the face of the man brandishing his kitchen utensil in the picture has been hidden? The Daily Record and others who have reported have not covered his face. Is it for his protection? Those responsible for the other crimes against Neil Lennon in your article were not attacked. His privacy?

The reporting of the story seems incomplete. It claims Facebook are investigating the supporters' group page yet absolutely ignores that the man pictured is clearly wearing a Puma football shirt with a Blackthorn cider logo on the front.
