It is understood that Rechtman is to depart to pursue ‘entrepreneurial adventures’ having joined Aol following the acquisition of Go Viral in January 2011.

Earlier this year he oversaw the evolution of the video platform with the creation of BeOn, Aol's new branded content division.

He will also continue to lead the Canadian operation for the interim, while a country manager is sought, while Rechtman will remain in place until 1 November.

Bob Lord spoke to The Drum while at Dmexco on his first week in the role of CEO at Aol Networks, where he discussed the future of programmatic buying and how the company is positioned to work with advertising networks such as Publicis Omnicom.
