Whisky brand Johnnie Walker is to open its third ‘global embassy’ in South Korean capital Seoul.

The move follows opening in Shanghai in 2011 and Beijing in 2012 and the embassy will offer limited edition rare scotch whiskies and whisky dinners. The houses were created by Manchester-based design agency Love.

Gilbert Ghostine, president of Diageo Asia Pacific, said: “Being the largest Scotch and super premium Scotch market in Asia Pacific and with a growing luxury market, Korea was the clear market to expand the Johnnie Walker House footprint and to help us strengthen our lead in Scotch whisky.

He added: “This is also in line with Diageo’s strategy to invest in new and growing opportunities with luxury consumers.”

The House covers six floors of a building in Seoul’s Cheongdam retail district and will include a blending suite room, a rooftop bar, a training facility for up-and-coming bar staff and a VIP lounge for whisky and dining events.
