Infographic: 80% of Gen Y log on to social media daily – with 12% logging on while in the toilet

Over three quarters (80 per cent) of Generation Y - people aged between 15 and 34 – log in to social media every day, with during leisure time and second screening being the times then users are most likely to log in.

The research by InSites Consulting found that 56 per cent said that they went on social media to communicate, while 54 per cent use social as a way of killing time.

Facebook was named as the site with the most awareness, followed by Twitter, Google+ and Myspace, with only 46 per cent having an awareness of LinkedIn.
