People on the move: Marc Weinstock dismissed from Sony, Thiago de Moraes joins Droga5 Europe, and TBWA\London brings in Paul Weinberger

This week Sony moved to ditch its chief marketing officer, Marc Weinstock, following a series of box office disappointments over the summer. Although no replacement for Weinstock has yet been lined up Sony’s digital marketing head Dwight Caines is being touted as a possible successor.

Thiago de Moraes has joined Droga5 Europe from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, taking on the role of executive creative director.

M&C Saatchi has brought in Mark Sinnock as chief strategy officer. Sinnock previously served as chief strategy officer at Bates CHI & Partners.

MEC has appointed MoneySupermarket’s former head of SEO and social media, Ben McKay, as managing director of organic performance.

Starcom, a division of the Starcom MediaVest Group, announced two senior appointments; Eva Powell has been brought in as head of strategy while Sabino Petruccelli has joined the agency as head of performance marketing.
