TV streaming service Blinkbox hired illusionist Scott Penrose to fool London shoppers with a Star Trek teleportation trick to celebrate the release of Star Trek Into Darkness earlier this week.

Stunned shoppers watched as the illusionist ‘teleported’ members of the audience to a nearby location.

Through clever lighting and the use of identical twins, duped onlookers in London’s Westfield shopping centre were left scratching their heads.

Ben Ayers from Blinkbox, said: “Star Trek Into Darkness is one of the biggest releases of the year. We wanted to mark its arrival with an audacious spectacle straight out of the franchise itself – human teleportation.

“Since Star Trek first hit our screens, the idea of being able to teleport from one place to another, although it is not scientifically possible, has captured the public imagination.”

The latest instalment of the popular franchise is available on the Blinkbox movie streaming service over a year ahead of Netflix and Lovefilm Instant.
