A list of clients that hired rogue private investigators is set to be released by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) tomorrow, with Simon Cowell revealed as one of the celebrities named.

The list will name individuals and companies that employed unregistered private investigators, and will reportedly also include Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Allianz and 22 law firms, as well as a list of celebrities, including The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent media mogul.

The list will be published by the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, which has claimed public interest, despite the resistance by police to release it.

However, not all 102 names on the list will be released as a result of live investigations of ‘corporate espionage’, meaning that 98 will be revealed by the committee, despite warnings that its publications could damage any ongoing investigations.
