Miley Cyrus’ bizarre VMAs performance attracts 4.5 million mentions on Twitter
MTV’s VMAs bring together a host of celebrities, but only one name was being mentioned across social media on Sunday night. Overall Miley Cyrus’ controversial performance pulled in more than 4.5 million mentions on Twitter, peaking at 306,100 tweets per minute as she shared the stage with Robin Thicke. Twitter reported that Justin Timberlake’s reunion with NSync saw 2.9 million mentions on the site. Across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for all nine VMA performers, the show attracted over 406 million mentions.
