Amazon reportedly testing its own wireless network
Online retailer Amazon is believed to be planning the launch of its on wireless network, allowing users to connect Amazon devices - such as Kindles - to the internet.
According to reports Amazon has been carrying out tests using technology provided by Globalstar, a satellite communications company, within its Lab126 research centre in Cupertino.
Despite making no official comment Globalstar has confirmed work with a 'major technology company', which many believe to be Amazon.
The news follows Google's decision to launch high-speed, fibre-based broadband in 17 US cities, and sees Amazon making steps to move beyond its e-commerce and hardware-making roots.
