Media Scotland, publisher of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, has launched Glasgow Now, the third in its series of city titles joining Aberdeen Now and Edinburgh Now.

The weekly paper replaces the Glaswegian, a title originally founded by The Drum's Gordon Young and Nick Creed before it was sold to Robert Maxwell.

The paper has also brought in new columnists including Clyde 1 presenters Diane Knox-Campbell and Shebahn Littlejohn, fashion writer Zoe Wilson, and politicians Gordon Matheson and Humza Yousaf.

“Today marks another major milestone in the company’s development,” said Media Scotland editor in chief Allan Rennie.

He added: “Glasgow Now takes the best of the Glaswegian and combines it with the best of our other city titles. It has a contemporary, bold design and will be championing the city and the extraordinary people who live here.”

Media Scotland has said that the new title has allowed advertisers to be offered a more comprehensive package, with Helena Morrow, commercial manager, explaining: “Today’s development brings the paper formerly known as the Glaswegian into line with our two other city titles. This ensures advertisers get their message across to large numbers of readers in a convenient and standardised format both digitally and in print.”
