Microsoft has reintroduced its YouTube app for Windows Phone customers after abruptly removing the app from the phones native marketplace during a spat with Google.

A compromise deal struck between the two warring tech firms follows a cease and desist letter issued by Google over complaints that the app didn’t display ads, allowed video downloads and played videos that partners wanted blocked – thus breaking the search giants terms of service.

Microsoft had hot back however, accusing Google of withholding details it needed in order to comply with its request – something Google finally relented on at the last minute.

In a statement Microsoft said: “We’ve released an updated YouTube app for Windows Phone that provides the great experience our consumers expect while addressing the concerns Google expressed in May,

including the addition of ads. We appreciate Google’s support in ensuring that Windows Phones customers have a quality YouTube experience and look forward to continuing the collaboration.”
