Baz Luhrmann crowdsources casting for 'Strictly Ballroom' live via Twitter

Enigmatic director and auteur Baz Luhrmann has made a rare for a back into Twitter to crowdsource the casting of the Broadway adaptation of his debut feature, the Australian classic ‘Strictly Ballroom’. The film was his mainstream breakthrough and the first of his fabled ‘Red Curtain’ trilogy.Luhrmann tweeted earlier today that tickets for the the “all-singing, all-dancing live version of Strictly Ballroom” would go on sale during the day. He then swiftly followed by with a crowdsource request to assist in casting the lead role, gauche Fran who transforms into a ballroom dancing sensation and finds love.

“Can you sing, dance, act and think you would be perfect casting for the character of Fran from Strictly Ballroom? If so, details to follow,” he tweeted from @bazluhrmannLuhrmann, who has over 22,000 followers from his verified account has only tweeted 12 times in total since opening the account four years ago.
