DC Thomson’s The Courier has been named as the sponsor of Jackie The Musical, based on the iconic teen magazine, during its run this autumn.

The production, which is running at the Gardyne Theatre in Dundee from 19 September to 5 October, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the magazine.

Of the sponsorship deal, The Courier assistant editor Catriona MacInnes, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Jackie The Musical. In its heyday Jackie the magazine was a must-read for a whole generation the length and breadth of the country. That generation has grown up and many are now Courier readers and I am convinced they will love the musical as much as they loved their Jackie.

“The Courier is proud to support a local production with a national cast which will, hopefully, go on to become an international success.”

Tim Collins, head of brand consumer entertainment at DC Thomson, added that the musical was “a great way to honour the magazine’s anniversary.”
