Bebo’s founder Michael Birch has released a video announcing the site as the biggest repository for illustrated pictures of “cock and balls ever recorded” as the social networking site announced plans for a new website.

Birch, who repurchased a site in July for £1m, has released the video, highlighting the whiteboard feature which allows Bebo users to draw whatever they like onto the site and share it with friends, has created the video with viral creative agency Rubber Republic, and released it on the site last night.

The tongue-in-cheek video features on the site's homepage, highlighting numerous illustrated images drawn for the site over the years on the whiteboard, with the line "You heard the man. Bebo is growing up." below it. The video can be shared through Facebook and Twitter too, which suggests the site doesn't plan to combat either rival directly.

Bebo CEO, Shaan Puri explained that the video has been created instead of a conventional landing page.

“We thought it would be fun to do a spoof ‘corporate video’ that would touch on the highs and lows of Bebo over the years.”

He added: “The video is certainly edgy, but you have to take risks. There’s a time and place to play it safe. This is not that time, nor that place.”

Birch founded the website in 2005 before selling it to AOL for $850m three years later.
