Creative Scotland has confirmed to The Drum that it has “chosen not to progress” with its magazine any further after withdrawing a tender for the magazine contract.

The tender was cancelled “before any contract was issued” with thanks given to those who had expressed interested. The official cancel notice adds that “if any similar requirement becomes available in the future it will be advertised on this site [Public Contracts Scotland] in the usual way.”

Creative Scotland explained to The Drum that the reason behind dropping the magazine was as part of its “action plan for change” which is “committed to reducing efforts on activity that could be constructed as promoting Creative Scotland ahead of artists, creative practitioners or cultural organisations…The content that has been developed will be used through other mediums.”

The decision to stop the magazine follows news earlier in the week that Creative Scotland missed over £100,000 worth of credit card fraud which took place on a company card between December 2010 and July 2011, only 70 per cent of the total amount was recovered.
