The Drum understands that the International Olympic Committee is negotiating with Nine Entertainment Co. to resurrect the failed bidding process for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The broadcast package has yet to be secured

In June The Drum reported that the IOC was seeking to entirely repackage the Olympic broadcasting proposal being offered to Australia, after rejecting the latest network bid for the rights worth $90 million.

The IOC told Australian networks that it was considering brokering a deal for the Rio package alone, after a conjoined package for multiple games was rejected.

The Drum understands that Channel Ten is also keen to secure exclusive rights to the Rio games. No network has accepted the $90 million multiple games package proposed by the IOC.
