President, digital at Draftfcb London, Martin Talks, has announced his departure from the agency just over two years after the company he co-founded, Blue Barracuda, merged with it.

Departure: Martin Talks leaves Draftfcb London

Talks leaves the agency today and Draftfcb has announced the appointment of Mulenga Agley as head of digital delivery.

Talks told The Drum: “For me, I’m looking for new challenges. I have worked in the digital technology sector for nearly 20 years.

“During that time I helped float the shares information company, ADVFN.com plc, on the Stock Exchange and then co-founded the digital marketing agency Blue Barracuda, which was sold in 2011 to Draftfcb.

“But it’s never been a more exciting time to be in technology, so I’m looking forward to exploring new possibilities. At the same time, I’ll also try and get a better balance in my life between digital and non-digital.”

Draftfcb doubled its London staff with the Blue Barracuda merger in May 2011. Talks’ departure marks the completion of the two agencies’ integration.

Fellow co-founders of Blue Barracuda, Marcus Exall and Nick Berry, will continue in their roles as digital director UK and planning director digital respectively, while Agley joins digital creative director Steven Bennett-Day, head of operations Emma Seal and technical director Tom Bentley on the digital team.

Regional president of Draftfcb Europe, Kate Howe, said: “Mulenga is a true digital native, immersed in and passionate about all things digital, underpinned with a solid production focused background. He brings an enthusiasm and drive to succeed that is both hard to rival and inspiring to be around.”

Agley brings experience from roles at Wunderman, glue Isobar and AKQA with him and the appointment marks his second stint at Draftfcb, having previously held a digital project manager position.
