ABC dominates the evening news as ‘World News’ beats ‘NBC Nightly News’ in ratings battle
ABC News has ended NBC News’ long reign as the go-to source for evening news, as its flagship show ‘World News With Diane Sawyer’ beat ‘NBC Nightly’ in the aged 25-54 category for ratings.
NBC Nightly, with its 7.54 million viewers, has dominated the slot since November 2008, but lost the crown by a slim margin – as ABC won by just 38,000.
'Nightly' however was quick to point out that it has won in total viewers in 249 of the past 250 weeks."
ABC also managed to beat out NBC for peak morning viewers too, as Good Morning America overtook Today in the ratings battle last year.
