George, James, Thunder and South West - Royal Baby name speculation from around the world

As the world awaits news of a Royal Baby name, the public have taken to social media to offer up their best guesses - although we will be surprised if we are presented with a baby "South West".

Suggestions: The Royal Baby name cloud

According to figures from Meltwater, almost half of the speculation has been generated in the UK with just over a quarter, 26 per cent, from the US, seven per cent from Australia and four per cent from Canada. France, Italy and Ireland all sit at three per cent, while further speculation has come from well wishers in China, India and South Africa.

George, James and Spencer have become the top three name choices since pre-speculative expectations of a baby girl were swept away with the arrival of the Prince on Monday afternoon.

Some tongue-in-cheek offerings have come in the form of Tyler - in reference to this cringeworthy interview with Katie Hopkins on ITV1's This Morning on judging children by their names - and Kanye, a nod to the recent birth of the rap star's daughter with Kim Kardashian, who the couple named North West.

Even "Thunder" has been floated as a Royal alternative name in honour of the stormy weather crossing the UK after the country's recent heatwaves.

Top Ten Name Choices:

1.) George

2.) James

3.) Spencer

4.) Arthur

5.) Henry

6.) Edward

7.) Tyler

8.) Alexander

9.) Kanye

10) Louis
