Herald Scotland had to issue an apology on its website on Monday morning due to complications from the overnight installation of a new computer system.

Apology: Herald Scotland was forced to say sorry to readers

In a statement titled "Sorry, we're facing production problems", the title said a "gremlin" was causing technical problems and the website's usual dose of news, sport, business and comment was affected.

It emerged up to 20 redundancies were to be made at the Herald & Times - mainly concentrated in production - in June, amid plans to introduce new technology to the editorial process.

A ballot over the job cuts was announced a short time later by the NUJ.
