Firefly, the ‘space cowboy’ TV series by Joss Whedon which ran for one season before being cancelled, is set to be made into a mobile game for Android and iOS, Fox Digital Entertainment has revealed.

The series saw Nathan Fillion play the role of Captain Malcolm Reynolds, who crewed a spaceship called Serenity after fighting on the losing side in a universal war with the Alliance. Other names which appeared in the show were Christina Hendricks and Adam Baldwin.

The game which is being developed by QMXi and Spark Plug Games, and is expected to be released next year.

The news is bound to excite the cult following for the TV show, which also spawned a film entitled Serenity following the cancelation of the show after 11 episodes.

This comes the day after it was revealed at Comi-Con that the second Avengers film, which Whedon is directing, will be called The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
