Days after Chinese flight attendant Ma Ailun died after allegedly being electrocuted by her iPhone reports have surfaced of a Chinese man who has fallen into a coma after suffering an electric shock as he plugged in his iPhone 4 to charge.

Wu Jiantong collapsed around 10pm on Monday (15 July) after connecting his two-year old iPhone to a charger.

Wu’s sister told the press he shouted “electric shock” before falling to the floor, adding that she too had felt a minor shock when she tried to unplug the charger.

Ma was believed to have been charging her iPhone 5, which she got in December 2012, using a third party charger, but Wu’s sister revealed his shock came from official Apple hardware.

Following Ma’s death her family have come forward with his sister warning iPhone users not to use their handsets while charging, and her brother confirming that the device had since been handed over to the Chinese authorities for examination.

Warnings have already been raised in the region in regards to the millions of fake Apple products flooding the Chinese market after official products sell out. In 2011, 22 fake Apple stores were uncovered in the city of Kinming alone, selling fake iPhones, iPads and iPods to unsuspecting members of the public.

Apple is reported as saying it would investigate Ma’s death but has declined to say if it was investigating an isolated case or if it was considering a product recall.
