Johannes Leonardo appoints Wes Phelan as senior art director to work on Coca-Cola, Google and Nike campaigns

Creative agency Johannes Leonardo has hired Wes Phelan, the former creative director at MetropolitanRepublic in Johannesburg, as senior art director.

In the newly created position, Phelan will work with clients such as Coca-Cola, Google, Nike and Sprite. He will report directly to Jan Jacobs and Leo Premutico, co-founders and executive creative directors of the agency.

“We’re confident that Wes will be a great addition to our team,” said Jacobs. “He’s worked with the best of the best in South Africa and has a true talent for creating visually-arresting work.”

“I’m thrilled to make the big move to New York and learn from industry leaders Jan and Leo,” said Phelan, who won Cannes Gold and Silver Lion and CLIO Gold award for his work in 2012. “I’m looking forward to the late nights, big ideas, and connecting worldwide audiences with brands in unique and memorable ways.”

Phelan has become the creative partner to Harv Bains, senior copywriter, who joined the agency in 2011.
