The Welsh Government has agreed a sponsorship package with Cardiff City FC, as the club gets ready for its first season in the Premier League this August.

The deal, worth over £100,000, will include Visit Wales branding and will see the Canton Stand be renamed as the Croeso Stand.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: “Cardiff City’s fantastic achievement in reaching the Premier League has provided a unique chance for promoting Wales to a worldwide audience. With two Welsh teams now in the most watched league in the world, this was an opportunity not to be missed.

“We want to ensure that every visitor to Cardiff next season and the millions of television viewers in more than 200 countries worldwide know what a warm welcome awaits them in Wales. Cardiff is a dynamic, international city and a great place to visit and do business. This partnership will help us promote tourism and business opportunities in the capital city and across the whole of Wales.”

The deal will also see Visit Wales promoted via pitch-side advertising boards, branding outside and inside the stand and other advertising opportunities.
