Apple names Angry Birds and Facebook as its most downloaded apps of all time
Apple is celebrating today’s fifth anniversary of its app store by publishing a list of its most popular paid for and free apps of all time.
On the paid for front Angry Birds came out on top on the iPhone, closely followed by Fruit Ninja, Doodle Jump, Cut the Rope and Angry Birds Seasons.
When only those iPhone apps offered for free are taken into account a very different picture emerges, with Facebook taking top dog honours and Pandora, Instagram, YouTube and Skype following close behind.

A slightly different picture emerges on the iPhone’s bigger brother, the iPad, however with Apple’s Pages word processing app taking top spot followed by Angry Birds HD, Angry Birds Seasons HD, Where's My Water HD and Fruit Ninja HD
Skype topped the list of free apps, coming out ahead of The Weather Channel, Netflix, Angry Birds HD Free and Amazon Kindle software.
