Grey New York has announced that Zachary Treuhaft has joined the agency in the newly created position of chief digital officer.

Treuhaft has joined Grey from WPP’s VML, where he served as co-managing director of their New York operation for over two years. Prior to that, he was at 24/7 Real Media where he led a technology partnership between Omniture, Google and the media agency, and was creative director The RJO Group.

In an internal email to staff, Michael Houston, the agency’s newly appointed CEO for North America, said: “The executive management team spent months interviewing candidates and unanimously agreed that Zak is the strongest person to lead our digital initiatives.”

He continued: “Importantly, we believe that Zak will be culturally compatible with our digital team and will mesh perfectly with all of our client teams to champion stellar, integrated solutions with Famously Effective digital components.”

Treuhaft officially joined the agency on 8 July.
