Rangers have become the latest football club to announce that they will offer fans Wi-Fi in their stadium next season.

The Glasgow-based side have struck a deal with telecommunications company Huawei which will allow supporters to access "content-rich media" and "participate in real-time interactions with the club" during matchdays at Ibrox.

Rangers chief executive Craig Mather said: “Rangers FC is rightly proud of its tremendous fan base, which has stood by the team through thick and thin and we aim to provide our supporters with a world-class wifi service to enhance their matchday experience.”

Several football clubs are installing Wi-Fi in their stadiums for the upcoming campaign, including Rangers' Old Firm rivals Celtic who revealed their own wireless internet plans last week.

Victor Zhang, chief executive of Huawei UK, said: “The high data capacity that Wi-Fi delivers will allow Rangers fans to use social networks to share their experiences, as well as allowing the club to enhance its ‘digital dialogue’ with its supporters.”
