Vine has begun its fightback against Instragram’s video roll-out with the announcement of its own new tools and services, including a simplification of sharing other people’s posts.

The Twitter owned imaging tool has announced a number of updates, including new camera tools, the ability to share other people’s posts to follower through ‘Revining’, a tool to help discover new users within the community and the introduction of channels.

15 channels will be introduced for users to submit posts to or browse through, across themes including comedy, music and nature, or most popular.

Protected posts will also be introduced, moving away from Vine posts being made available for all users to view. This will aim to offer users more control over the visibility of their Vine posts, allowing them to approve who views the vines.

Further features are expected to be added to the Android version of the Vine app, although it has also been rolled out across iOS as well, with more to follow, according to co-founder and CTO Colin Kroll.

Facebook announced two weeks ago that it was to introduce video capturing through its Instagram, which instantly hit the numbers using Vine. We spoke to a number of agency professionals for their views on what it would mean for the future of the Twitter application.
