Broadcasting and content industry PR specialist Franklin Rae has announced its acquisition by Tessa Laws, founder of media law firm newlawslegal, for an undisclosed sum.

The move will see Sadie Groom, managing director of Bubble & Squeak and Silver Lining Communications, appointed as new MD in addition to her current roles. This will see her tasked with growing Franklin Rae’s core B2B profile-raising business.

Franklin Rae founder Jill Franklin will sit on the new board alongside Jonathan Jackson, former group MD of DRG and Big Mouth Media’s Steve Leach.

Laws said: “Franklin Rae is one of the biggest names in PR in the broadcasting and content industry. With shared contacts, clients and objectives in the industry, it seemed a perfect fit for me to bring Franklin Rae alongside newlawslegal. Working alongside Sadie and her companies there are some great synergies and I’m very excited about the prospect of fuelling the further growth of Franklin Rae, such a market-leading brand.”

Mike Wallwork, COO of JGG added: “The decision to exit PR was driven by our strategic view of the Group moving forward and also our acknowledgement that JGG was unlikely to be able to add sufficient value to Franklin Rae as a company in the market. We are delighted that the FR brand has such an exciting new home from which it can grow and prosper. ”
