Any social platforms with less than 100m users is not worth using, according to Marc Blinder, director of Social Media Strategy EMEA for Adobe.

Speaking at The Drum Live, Blinder was discussing how social platforms could be used to help achieve business objectives and how social can affect a business at board level.

Asked about his views on Google+, Blinder said that he believed it was useful for both SEO and that the Hangouts feature was useful for personal interaction, "I don't think it's going to drive a lot of conversions directly. To me those are the two reasons its useful," he added before turning to focus more generally on the use of new social platforms by major companies simply for the sake of being seen to be there.

"If you are working for a big company and you're worrying about platforms, any platform that has less than 100m users you can ignore," he stated. "Do we have to worry about this new thing that someone's doing, even with Vine, which I love especially as it puts great content onto Twitter, but if you're a brand and you don't feel confident about your Twitter strategy, I wouldn't worry about your Vine strategy."
