Transport for London has launched a new website (www.tfl.gov.uk) sporting improved layouts and more personalised and intuitive features as part of a beta trial phase.

Developed in collaboration with strategic consultancy we are experience the all new portal has been devised with input from the public, consumer and business groups.

Key updates include a journey planner, improved mapping and a Street View function alongside more live travel information. A ‘Nearby’ feature also displays all transport links within the local radius together with live departure details.

The new site is optimised for use on mobile devices and incorporates a responsive design so that it is consistent across mobile, tablet and desktop platforms.

Chris Averill, founder and managing director of we are experience, said: “At we are experience, we have developed a lean UX approach for designing services and products. This means we build and test simultaneously for rapid results. When it came to redesigning TfL’s website it was logical to start with the people who use it most. By collaborating with TfL’s customers, we could ensure that we incorporated the necessary functionality in a useable format that works consistently across all devices.”
