Lord Justice Leveson will appear before MPs to discuss his report on press regulation after parliament returns from summer recess on 2 September.

Leveson has accepted an invitation from the Commons culture, media and sport select committee to give evidence, as it looks into the future of press regulation, but said that he would not be able to do so before 18 July, when the summer recess begins.

John Whittingdale, the Conservative MP who chairs the culture select committee, had invited Leveson to attend.

The findings of the Leveson report were made public in November 2012.
