Scottish Tory comms director John McLellan appointed as Scottish Newspaper Society director
The Scottish Newspaper Society has announced the appointment of ex-Scotsman editor John McLellan as its new director, effective from September.
McLellan, who took up the role of director of communications for the Scottish Conservatives last year, said: “I am grateful to the Scottish Conservatives for the opportunity to work in the Scottish Parliament and see the political world from the other side of the fence. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Ruth Davidson, for whom I retain a very high regard.
“But the lure of going back to the industry in which I spent the vast majority of my working life was too great and I look forward to working with newspaper colleagues old and new.”
McLellan takes over the role from interim director Jim Raeburn.
