Former broadcaster, and current bete noire of the police and courts, the self styled @HumanHeadline Derryn Hinch has been charged with contempt of court for allegedly breaching suppression orders in the Jill Meagher murder case.

Jill Meagher's killer was on parole at the time of her murder

Hinch had been under investigation for alleged contempt in connection with online postings containing material about Adrian Ernest Bayley, who has now been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Meagher.

Bayley‘s prior convictions had been under suppression order during the case against him.

Hinch has not made any public comment via Facebook or his twitter account since the charges were laid, although he has told colleagues in the media that he intends to fight the charges.
