The First Direct Arena has appointed Whitby-based Tresamo as its retained agency to handle its social media presence.

Tresamo has been handling the arena’s social media activity to date and is now tasked with furthering the venue’s ambition to become the most socially engaged arena in the UK, maintaining fun, informative and responsive channels of communication between operators SMG Europe and entertainment fans.

Currently the agency has been briefed with planning the activity around Bruce Springsteen’s 24 July performance, before the September opening season which includes Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Cirque Du Soliel and the Kaiser Chiefs.

Of the agency’s work with the arena Tony Watson director of sales and marketing at the First Direct Arena, commented: “Since the arena project was first announced, the excitement, interest and buzz online has been staggering. Tresamo has gone above and beyond to help us keep fans informed, answer their questions and support our initiatives.”

Lee Kidd, account manager at Tresamo, added: “We are delighted to be working alongside SMG Europe and the first direct arena. Tresamo are specialists at adding social media value to dynamic businesses & projects and they don’t come more exciting than the opening of a unique world-class venue.”

@Lee Kidd Morning. Well that's good to hear...however the 'excellent' website should have been up and running BEFORE they opened....not months after! Just a bad experience....and first impressions and all that!!!!

@boroboy Hi again! To be fair, the arena isn't actually open yet! The website will be up and running prior to the venue hosting live events. Cheers for the feedback.
