iris appoints David McNamara as European head of social strategy

Global creative innovation network iris has named David McNamara as its European head of social strategy.

McNamara joins iris from Jam where he held the role of strategy director, prior to working for Jam he held the role of head of digital at Redhouse Lane and has also held senior planning and account management roles at BBDO Proximity and Future Publishing.

“Social is the ultimate integrator discipline. For ideas to travel they need to be inherently social. We have been doing some great things in social for a while now, but realise this now needs more focus and leadership. David can bring a breadth of expertise and point of view which can help us elevate and sharpen our offer,” said Ian Milner, joint CEO of iris.

As European head of social, McNamara will report to Benjamin Chilcott, CEO of iris Concise (iris’ specialist management consultancy arm) and Sam Noble, executive group planning director. His role will be across the iris Worldwide business with a focus on Europe, he will be responsible for building iris’ social business practice and helping client teams develop extraordinary social marketing ideas.

Of the appointment McNamara commented: “I am delighted to be joining iris…I look forward to helping iris embed social across all disciplines and creating some brilliant work along the way.”
