Twitter has announced an advertising partnership with Viacom, which will see the cable network tweet sponsored video clips around its programmes on MTV, CMT, VH1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and BET among others.

Viacom is the latest media company to join Twitter’s Amplify program, which lets media brands and advertising partners show a video highlight or a show accompanied with an advert.

The partnership will kick off with the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards in August, when MTV will post sponsor-supported highlights from the show as well as backstage clips and interviews.

This is the most recent advertising deal Twitter has struck. In April it signed its largest ever deal with Publicis Groupe’s Starcom Mediavest, allowing the company exclusive access to research and data and giving its clients preferred advertising slots.

And a deal with WPP earlier this month will see the launch of new data products and services, the integration of Twitter data into key WPP media and analytics platforms, training for staff in the application of these new capabilities and a partnership approach to key clients and markets.
