In scenes not witnessed in Scotland since Krispy Kreme opened in Edinburgh, patrons have clogged up roads and blocked approaches in their eagerness to sample the newly opened KFC outlet in Elgin.

The wait is over

Streets were reported to be gridlocked as lengthy queues formed in the area, which currently hosts a MacDonalds, a Burger King and a Pizza hut.

The opening of the outlet followed a Facebook campaign joined by almost 1500 people campaigning for the fast food chain to open in the town.

“We are delighted to have opened in Elgin and we’re thrilled by the demand we’ve seen,” a KFC spokesman said.

"We look forward to becoming a positive part of the community and welcoming local residents into the restaurant.”
