Fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for tax evasion in the region of hundreds of thousands of Euros - althought it's not clear whether the duo will actually make it to jail.

Jail: An Italian judged handed down a prison sentence

The Italian ruling is likely to be subject to appeal, making it unlikely either will spend any time in prison, according to Reuters. The judge ruled that Dolce and Gabbana sold their brand to a Luxembourg based holding company called Gado in 2004 to avoid paying tax, but the pair deny the charges.

An investigation into the duo's financial affairs began in 2008 after a crackdown on tax avoidance prompted by the financial crisis.
