The furore around Howard Sattler’s questions to Prime Minister Julia Gillard which led to his dismissal from Perth radio station 6PR seems unlikely to die down, as the former broadcaster claimed his comments “paled into insignificance” against other comments made to Ms Gillard on air.

Sattler has also said he intends to take legal action

He also announced he was considering running against Labour’s Stephen Smith in the September election.

Sattler was dismissed from Fairfax media after repeatedly asking the Prime Minister if her partner, Tim Mathieson, was gay.

“What about these people - people who grilled a 13-year-old rape victim, a threat to hunt down a female journalist, harass the English nurse to subsequent suicide, say that Julia Gillard's father died of shame over her policies, that Ms Gillard should be bagged and dumped into the sea," Sattler said.

"Now don't you think my question paled into insignificance ahead of all those things?

"All those people are still on air. I've lost my job I gave her the opportunity to stop me at any stage, I didn't think I'd lose my job."

On the subject of a possible run against Perth Labor MP Stephen Smith in the September election, he said: “It might help unseat him ... I'd love to try."
