Glasgow-based Eklipse Sports Radio is to launch on the Central Scotland DAB multiplex later this summer.

The station, led by former broadcaster Spencer Pryor, will offer a Sports Talk format with sports news, chat, commentaries, phone-ins and rock music.

The company is currently in negotiations with a national sales house and finalising investments in order to facilitate the launch. Advertisers are also set to be pursued by a team of five S&P executives.

Pryor revealed that as "a bit of fun" the station will also be "auctioning off our first ever commercial". The auction for the 30" ad slot aims to raise funds for one of Eklipse's nominated sports charities.

The station aims to employ around 13 staff and will be broadcast from studios in the South East of Glasgow with a provisional launch date of 22 July.
