Rick Sear, chairman for the creative panel of this year’s Scottish Creative Awards, has said he’ll be looking for “work that dares to stand out” when it comes to the judging later this year.

Sear’s comments come as the entry deadline for this year’s awards is extended. Joining Sear on the creative panel are Tribal DDB’s Chris Baylis; Richard Coggin of AIS; HAVAS EHS’ Philip Beaumont; Chris Hassell from Ralph & Co, Nick Eagleton UK Creative Director at The Partners and Lambie Nairn’s Adrian Burton.

Speaking of what will catch his eye Sear said: “I know great work when I see it, because I experience a familiar cocktail of emotions. Namely, admiration and unbridled jealousy.”

Also judging the awards are four more esteemed judges on the creative strategy panel including Gail Gardner from Santander; Virgin Media’s Lewis Clayton; Oliver Garner of Hotels.com/Expedia and Stock Spirits’ Richard Hayes.

The awards aim to reward and celebrate the best Scotland’s creative section has to offer spanning advertising, design, digital and PR. There are a total of 44 categories to choose from including Integrated Campaign, Art Direction, Online Video/Film, Media Planning/Buying Strategy and PR Strategy/Stunt.

Sear added: “The creatives that are called up to the podium this year will have earned their walk to glory. They deserve a trophy for their rare talent, and a medal for their iron resolve in fending off attempts to water down their work.”

The Scottish Creative Awards will be taking place later this year, those looking for an extension should place their request with Kimberly Baran by calling 0141 559 6078 or emailing kimberly.baran@thedrum.com.
