The now infamous menu reportedly from a Liberal/coalition party fundraiser which circulated widely on Twitter has now reached the mainstream and the top of the PM’s agenda.

It's gone viral

Julia Gillard has now called for LNP candidate Mal Brough to be disendorsed, and implicated opposition leader Tony Abbot in a “pattern of behaviour” that she says the offending menu, produced for a fundraiser for Brough in March is part of.

“Mr Brough should be disendorsed, that’s what should happen here,” Gillard said.

“Let’s go through the pattern of behaviour. Mr Abbott personally has gone and stood next to signs that described me in a sexist way. We’ve had the Young Liberals hosting a function where jokes were cracked about the death of my father. And now, we have Mr Brough and Mr Hockey at a function with this grossly sexist and offensive menu on display,” she said.

“Join the dots.”

The picture of the menu, which described the PM and members of the Labour party in derogatory terms relating to food choices, began circulating widely via Twitter on Monday, after reportedly being posted on Facebook by an employee at the restaurant which hosted the event.

Brough is seeking preselection for the Fisher federal seat.

The Prime Minister’s lengthy tirade against misogyny in October went viral worldwide.

UK Labour party MP Tom Watson, prominent in raising issues in public surrounding News International and the phone hacking scandal said: "Is Australia's Liberal party the most backward of any Liberal Democracy? I hope the response is comprehensive."
