A number of senior editorial reshuffles have been announced at News Limited, following the exit of Queensland editorial director, David Fagan.

A number of editorial changes are underway at the group

Fagan leaves after 30 years with the group; consequently, the editor of Perth’s Sunday Times newspaper, Chris Dore, will become editor of Brisbane’s Courier-Mail. Further changes include Gold Coast Bulletin editor Peter Gleeson taking over at Brisbane’s Sunday Mail; and the appointment of Catherine Webber, assistant editor of the Daily Telegraph, as editor of the Gold Coast Bulletin.

The Courier-Mail’s editor Michael Crutcher is also to leaveNews Limited, and Sunday Mail editor Scott Thompson is anticipated to take up a new editorial role in Queensland.

Additionally, Rod Savage - who has been leading the company’s editorial efforts in the launch of News Limited’s new digital offering, news+ - will move to Perth as editor of The Sunday Times in place of Mr Dore.

News Limited CEO Kim Williams paid tribute to Fagan after 30 years with the group.

“David has had a distinguished career and made a huge contribution to our company, to Australian journalism and to the people of Queensland," Williams said.

"We announce this decision with great regret.

"David has driven significant business and editorial change in Queensland. When David took his current role as state editorial director a year ago we agreed his key responsibility was to oversee the transformation of our newsrooms from print to digital.

"Six newsrooms that once operated separately now work cooperatively together. David has overseen the creation of one-state news force - which is great for both customers and our competitive position in Queensland."
