Clear Channel Outdoor is kicking off a Twitter-led campaign at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity to spark debate around realising creative potential.

The #canvas for creativity campaign, which will launch on 16 June, will aim to stir up conversations and debate about creative topics, which will culminate in a mural dedicated to the tweets generated.

Clear Channel has selected two industry influencers including founder of digital creative agency Glue Mark Cridge, to lead debates around creative topics via their own Twitter feeds.

Each day a different creative topic will be picked starting with: Who owns the creative agenda? Then moving through: Is creativity an art or Science? ; Is technology redefining creativity? ; Has globalisation diluted creativity? And Should creativity be a bigger force for social good?

The best tweets will be curated and pulled into a live, hand-painted mural located in the grounds of Le Grand hotel in Cannes.

The mural will be painted by three artists, including Patrick McGregor and Tait Roelofs, who will use micrography, the technique of using text to form an image when viewed at a distance, creating an interplay between the text and image.

The #canvas Twitter content will be streamed on Clear Channel Outdoor’s website and digital screens throughout the festival.

Paul Evans, marketing and planning director for Clear Channel International, said: “By engaging key influencers and some of the most innovative minds in the global creative and advertising community and beyond, our programme will not only inspire and rally extraordinary thought leadership, but we will go on to create a one-of-a-kind social media-fuelled piece of art. There cannot be a better real-world demonstration of how outdoor and social media are perfect partners.”

Clear Channel worked with a roster of agencies on the campaign, including We are Social, Proud Creative, Buzz Radar, Fishburn Hedges and Curb Media.
