Sacked deputy social media editor of Reuters Matthew Keys has prompted industry interest after setting up a breaking news site which collates data from various social media and news feeds to provide fast access to breaking content.

Site: The former Reuters employee briefly unveiled the service

Keys was sacked from Reuters after allegedly collaborating with hacktivist group Anonymous in April and briefly unveiled his new site - matthewkeyslive.com - during a press briefing from Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on Thursday after the news of a building collapse in the city which killed six people. The site has since been taken back down.

According to Tech Crunch, the website will be paid-subscription and fully launch at a later date. Keys told the tech site: "The goal isn't to get rich. The goal is to get this in front of as many news professionals and news consumers as possible."

The site has been built on WordPress hosting site ZippyKid, which also powers Reuters blogs.
