A new inflight magazine supplement is to be launched aimed specifically at commuting mining workers.

Edge says it is the first inflight magazine for FIFO workers

Edge publishers said the new supplements will represent the first inflight magazines to directly cater to a passenger segment like FIFO workers.

The supplement, ‘Inside Mining’ will appear in inflight magazines OUTthere and Rocks, and will be found on airlines Rex Regional Express, SkyTrans, Air North, Pel-Air, AirLink and Alliance Airlines.

Edge Commercial Director Fergus Stoddart said the supplements will include a mix of industry and technical editorial relevant to FIFO workers.

“Most inflight magazines are full of high-end travel and tourism content much of which is inaccessible to so many passengers but Edge saw an opportunity to provide editorial that really spoke to the FIFO segment,” he said.

“With so many options competing for the reader’s attention, magazine content needs to engage readers, which is what Inside Mining will do for OUTthere and Rocks.

“FIFO workers are usually a very difficult audience to reach. As inflight magazines typically attract a captive audience that do more than just flick through the pages, Inside Mining will offer a unique opportunity for advertisers to reach this elusive segment.”

“The magazine industry is under considerable pressure at the moment with many print titles struggling with decreasing circulation. At Edge we’re addressing this by providing highly relevant, and engaging content, like Inside Mining. For many of our titles we also incorporate online channels to maximise reach, engagement and loyalty.”
