Mothercare is looking ahead to the impending media frenzy surrounding the birth of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s first child with the launch of a new commemorative range.

This includes a series of new his and hers romper suits emblazoned with the tagline ‘handsome as a prince’ and ‘pretty as a princess’.

Already speculation is mounting that the mum and baby chain has a new pram in the works, specially modelled on the Royal carriage.

Simon Calver, Mothercare chief executive, told the Telegraph: “We're looking to commerate, celebrate, to have a bit of fun. Babies are going to be the thing people talk about this year,” adding that the move was not an attempt to cash in but merely to mark the occasion.

William and Kate’s baby is expected in July at around the same time as the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation.
